the evening of a Sunday in November of 1980 the earth shook and causing death destruction. Among the affected areas there was also our little town who paid a high price with the loss of 64 people, torn forever the affections of relatives and friends.

After thirty years of thought, pain, and lack still have not weakened always staying alive in the hearts and minds of those who were directly involved in it.

To ensure that new generations can acquire the right knowledge of what happened, the city council aims to collect photos, thoughts and testimonies of victims and those who were architects of those tragic moments and days following.

Because the initiative taken possa essere il più possibile espressione reale, rivolgo un caloroso invito a chi a vario titolo è venuto a contatto con la nostra collettività di contribuire mediante l’invio di documenti e pensieri in proprio possesso.

Un pensiero e ringraziamento particolare è rivolto a quanti, forze istituzionali e volontariato, furono partecipi ed artefici di aiuto e solidarietà in favore della comunità sammennese che mai dimenticherà, sentendone ora come allora la vicinanza.

L’Amministrazione comunale resta disponibile ad ospitare quanti preservano ricordi da rivivere e condividere con la cittadinanza.
